Making an Appointment

Please help us to help you. You may make an appointment by telephoning the surgery or by attending the surgery. You will be asked to give a brief reason for needing an appointment, as this is very helpful for the doctor or the nurse and helps to make best use of the appointment time.

If you require an interpreter please advise the receptionist at the time of making your appointment and this can be arranged for you.

The surgery offers both routine appointments, which can be booked ahead, and same-day appointments for those medical problems which require attention without too much delay. If a same day appointment is required and there are no bookable appointment slots the receptionist will enter your details on the telephone consultation list of your own doctor or the duty doctor. You will subsequently be telephoned and your problem will be discussed with you.

It is often possible for problems to be managed with a telephone consultation or by involving another health care professional but you will always be seen in surgery if necessary. Please note that we may ask you to be flexible about when and by whom you are seen if you are requesting a same-day appointment

You have the right to express a preference with regard to the doctor that you see, so please ask, and we will always try to comply with your request. However, due to holidays and study leave, it may not always be possible for you to see the doctor of your choice, particularly if you require a same-day appointment. If you are unable to keep a booked appointment for whatever reason please let us know.
