Over 65 Flu Vaccinations  16th November 2018

Please note that we have used up our

unallocated stock of over 65 flu vaccines.

We advise patients to try their chemist

or local supermarket, as they seem to

have the over 65 flu vaccine in stock.

Thank you.

Patient Update November 2018 (Next one due in February)

Please find following the latest update on what is happening at the practice.

 Flu Vaccines

From the practice’s point of view this has been a nightmare this year; a view shared by practices around the country. We are sure you have seen the many media reports regarding this.

The problem is that there are two types of adult flu vaccine this year; one for the over 65s (one supplier) and one for the under 65s (many suppliers). Our original delivery schedule was changed but we were not informed which, understandably, caused us huge problems.

We apologise to all those patient who turned up on the 18th October and were not able to get their flu jab. We did not have enough vaccines for the demand due to our delivery schedule being changed.

If you are 65 or over, please go to your chemist or one of the main supermarkets as they seem to have the flu vaccine in stock.

If you are under 65, please come to the practice as we have availability of these flu vaccines.

If this situation changes, we will of course let you know.

We are very pleased that Dr Suad ‘Suzi’ Elyas has joined the practice as a salaried GP working Wednesdays and Thursdays. Dr Suzi has worked at the practice as a locum since June this year. Whilst at the practice Dr Suzi will be undertaking a Post CCT Fellowship in Geriatric and Frailty Care.

April Morrison a year one Physician Associate student will be carrying out her GP Practice placement on Thursdays at HMC. A Physician Associate sits between a GP and a Nurse.

We have had a couple staff changes in reception; Angela (secretary) and Emils (reception) have moved on and Linda (secretary) and Mia (Admin) have joined us.

Sadly our Minor Improvement Grant application for a new consulting room, a new reception desk and automatic doors was rejected. The reason was due to the consulting room not being big enough.

As a result of patient feedback, we have attached a door bell to the main entrance door so that if someone has difficulty opening the door, they can call for assistance.

Patient Feedback

Your feedback is really important to us because it helps us understand what you want and guides us to improve the services we offer. You can feedback using the Friends and Family cards at reception or via NHS Choices (please help us increase our rating on NHS Choices).

Thank you for your continued support.

Hove Medical Centrewas built in 1990 and prior to that the partnership practised from a surgery in Sackville Road and a branch surgery in Hangleton. The branch surgery was a tiny area in what is now the dental surgery next door!

Approximately 9,200 National Health Service patients are currently registered with the practice.

The current non-limited partnership provides general medical services under contract with NHS England, South (South East), York House, 18-20 Massetts Road, Horley, Surrey, RH6 7DE.

Hove Medical Centre is a training practice and is also involved in the teaching of students from Brighton and Sussex Medical School. The students are placed with the surgery at intervals throughout the academic year and you will always be asked if you are willing to have them present during your consultation.

We hope that you will find this new website helpful and that you will let us know if you have any ideas about how to improve it. The website is designed to be a simple and user- friendly guide to our services with some helpful links to other sources of help and information.
